D. M. Kelsey’s book “Our Pioneer Heroes and The Daring Deed” tells stories about the lives and famous exploits of various well-known characters from DE SOTO to Generals Miles and Crook, among many other explores and pioneers who helped settle America. Henry Farny and Armand Welcker are two artists given credit for the book, though given the numerous illustrations, there were likely others as well, especially since I could only identify two illustrations by Farny. The published date of the book is 1887, but it appears the finished manuscript was completed in 1882. Less clear is whether these images were created before or after Kelsey finished the book.
