Famed sculptor Niehaus and Farny made a trip to California’s San Francisco during September of 1887. It’s likely the trip influenced the two-page illustration Farny created for the April 20, 1889, issue of Harper’s Weekly, page 252-53, on The Fishermen of San Francisco.
