1870-10: “Coast of Capri” Painting

Henry Farny entered his painting, the Coast of Capri, at the 1870 Cincinnati Industrial Exposition. As the excerpt below notes, the painting attracted quite a bit of attention. The excerpt below is from the October 11, 1870, issue of theCincinnati Daily Gazette, page 1, column 7.

Based on the description, it sounds like this is the painting from 1870 titled Coast of Capri:

This painting appears to have undergone a name change into “Monte Castello, in the Island of Capri” that was shown in Robert Clarke’s window in 1872 and later at the 1893 Farny exhibit. At that time it was described as an early painting that Leonie loved, which is consistent. She lent it to other shows.
